Here are the steps to follow in this lesson:
- Use the =LEFT() Function to extract characters at the beginning of a text string.
- Use the =RIGHT() Function to extract characters at the end of a text string.
- Be sure to distinguish “stored cell” entries from “formatted” or “displayed” cell values.
- Before you use the =MID() Function to extract characters in the middle of a text string, be sure to locate the starting location.
- The =MID() Function requires 3 arguments.
